A very warm welcome to the International Anthony Burgess Foundation website. Many thanks for taking the time to visit our site. The IABF is a non-profit Charity registered with the UK's Charities Commission and a registered company with the UK';s Company House. We welcome all individuals or institutions interested in Burgess's work, and hope you will consider joining us. Details of the modest membership fees and a downloadable membership application form are available on this website.
Our primary purpose is assisting in the dissemination and preservation of Anthony's Burgess';s literature and drama, and his music, journalism and critical writings. Our mission is to encouraging and support public and scholarly interest in all aspects of Anthony Burgess's life and works. While the Foundation has links with universities and other relevant institutions, it exists independently to serve an autonomous network of members with an interest in any aspect of Burgess's work.
Because of the legal requirements of UK laws on registered companies and charities, the Foundation has a Memorandum of Articles and Association, parts of which can be obtained directly from the Foundation. The Foundation consists of its members and is governed by a Board of Trustees, who are elected from the membership at the Annual General Meeting. The current Board of Trustees are: Dr Carson Bergstrom (Chairperson); Ms Caroline Banks, Dr Andrew Biswell, Dr Bill Blazek, Monsieur Gaëtan de Chezelles; Mr Gerry Docherty; Dr Zöe Kinsley; Dr Patrick McDonagh and Dr Terry Phillips.
The Foundation currently employs two staff members: Dr Alan Roughley (Chief Executive)and Ms Nuria Belastegui (P/T Foundation Secretary and Archivist) The staff are very happy to try and answer any questions you may have about the Foundation and its Mission.
