Hire the Engine House for your event

The Engine House is available to hire for all occasions: lectures, readings, music events, film screenings, meetings, conferences, parties and more. We have hosted concerts with RNCM, Psappha and Manchester Camerata; booklaunches for Manchester University Press, Carcanet and Comma Press; gigs for Hey! Manchester and Now Wave; events for Manchester Comedy Festival, Manchester Science Festival and Manchester Literature Festival, conferences and meetings for Manchester University, MMU, Salford University and Manchester City Council; and much more. We have an experienced and accommodating team who will help your event run smoothly: call us with your ideas.

Our facilities include a flexible performance space, accommodating up to 100 (seated theatre-style, more if standing); we have a PA system, lectern and microphones, mixing desk and facility to record events. Stage lighting is installed, and there is a collapsible stage. There is a Bosendorfer grand piano available to play, a Steinway upright piano and a William Foster harpsichord, all once the property of Anthony Burgess himself. We also have a 8′x6′ fastfold screen for front and rear projection, and a high-quality multimedia projector.

Our cafe can accommmodate up to 30 (seated, more if standing), and is suitable for informal smaller evening events.

Wifi is provided free of charge throughout the building. All areas are fully accessible.

Refreshments and catering can be provided and we can discuss with you any ideas you might have.  Our new chef Or Golan, has devised us a menu of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern-influenced cuisine, made from fresh locally sourced ingredients.We can offer buffet meals, canape and drinks receptions, tea and cakes for meetings and workshops, and more to suit all budgets.
