In the summer of 2010, Simon Armitage set out to tackle the Pennine Way. Travelling as a ‘modern troubadour’ without a penny in his pocket, he paid his way by giving poetry readings in village halls, churches, pubs and living rooms. Walking Home is a moving and droll account of his remarkable journey through England’s remote interior and the generosity of its communities. Simon Armitage is the recipient of numerous prizes and awards. He has published ten collections of poetry, including Seeing Stars, plus acclaimed translations of Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and The Death of King Arthur. He also writes extensively for television and radio, and is the author of two novels and the bestselling memoir All Points North. In 2010 he received the CBE for services to poetry. £8/£6. Book on 0843 208 0500 or via Quay Tickets. A Manchester Literature Festival event.
