Concert: Stravinsky – The Soldier’s Tale
- Fri 03 May 2019
- 8:30 pm
- £6.00
The Soldier’s Tale is a work for seven instruments, three actors and a dancer. It tells the story of a Soldier who makes a bargain with the devil — trading his violin for unlimited economic gain. All is well until he realises that it is not material worth which is important in life. Instead it is those such as family, music and love which should prevail.
Stravinsky’s rhythmic and jazz-bending dance score paired with C.F. Ramuz’s poetic libretto makes the soldier’s tale a memorable work of music, dance and drama.
