‘All must have prizes’ says the Dodo in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. In our media-driven, celebrity culture, has our willingness to award literary prizes gone too far and is this undermining good writing by casting the spotlight in one particular direction at a time, as well as overshadowing those who aren’t even nominated? On the evening when the Booker Prize is announced, come and take part in the debate as writers (and prize-winners!) from the Centre for New Writing discuss the topic.
