Is fracking a technological innovation too far? Join James Woudhuysen (Professor of Forecasting and Innovation at De Montfort University, Leicester), Joanne Green (British Science Association), and Erik Bichard (Professor of Regeneration and Sustainable Development at the University of Salford) for a a discussion on fracking and the second dash for gas. In recent years the discovery of reserves of shale gas and other ‘unconventional’ sources of energy have transformed previously pessimistic discussions around an ‘energy crunch’, with predictions that the US could be entirely self-sufficient by 2030, and the UK and Europe not far behind. But what implications do shale gas and fracking have for the environment? A Manchester Salon event. Booking advised for what will be a lively debate. Tickets £5/£3 and more information here.
