Anthony Burgess uses the work ‘cacotopia’ to describe a society ‘structured on the lines of a cacophony’, with extreme states of political disharmony and social dissonance. Working with the contemporary artists Matti Isan Blind, Franziska Lantz, Rebecca Lennon, Elisabeth Molin and David Wojtowycz, Laura Mansfield has curated a selection of works that respond to the theme of ‘Cacotopia’. The exhibition plays with the discord between everyday rationality and the potential chaos, oppression and violence such rationality holds. Cacotopia will open on Thursday the 23rd of May with a performance by Franziska Lantz. Franziska Lantz is an artist musician creating staged and arranged performances. Using masks, props and backdrops, Lantz sets scenes to deep beats and physical instrumentals with vocal associations.
