Grand Unveiling: the Anthony Burgess plaque

Anthony Burgess is one of the most famous former students of the School of Arts, Languages and Cultures at the University of Manchester. Marking the fiftieth anniversary of the publication of his best known novel, A Clockwork Orange, Dr Howard Booth talks to Dr Andrew Biswell – Director of the International Anthony Burgess Foundation, biographer of Burgess and editor of a new edition of A Clockwork Orange – and Dr Kaye Mitchell, Lecturer in Contemporary Literature in the Centre for New Writing. After the talk, at 5pm a blue plaque to Anthony Burgess will be unveiled at the front of the Samuel Alexander Building, the world premiere of a trumpet fanfare by Burgess will be played, and there will be a drinks reception.
Please note the venue for this event will be the Samuel Alexander Arts Lecture Theatre at the University of Manchester. Free, all welcome.
