Leon Bosch
“I know he can play anything to be found in the repertoire for solo Double Bass for he is a true virtuoso”
Sir Charles Groves

Classical Evolution is honoured and humbled to welcome the internationally-acclaimed Double Bass virtuoso Leon Bosch for an afternoon of education, performance, and conversation.

Leon Bosch was a prominent player in the Academy of St Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble, the Moscow Virtuosi and the Zukerman Chamber Players, and played engagements with the Lindsay, Belcea and Brodsky String Quartets.

Following a two-hour masterclass, Classical Evolution’s Heather Bird will cook a hearty feast suitable for carnivores and herbivores, along with homemade bread, and cheese. Leon wil then discuss his varied and interesting life in a relaxed conversation and Q & A. To end the day, Leon will give a recital including a transcribed sonata for horn by Beethoven and Ariosa by Bach, accompanied by Amy Thompson.

If you want to just come for lunch, chat and recital, or any part of the above that’s also fine. Here is the running order:
1pm  Masterclass 1
2.30pm Masterclass 2
3.30pm Lunch
5pm Conversation/Q&A
6.30pm Recital

Although this is listed as free, this is a pay-as-you-feel event and we encourage contribution to event expenses. If you cannot attend but would still like to donate to the event, please email heather@classicalevolution.org.uk. Any profits go towards providing masterclasses for young musicians who need help with funding their musical education.
