A jazzy piano

ASC Records, Manchester’s premier contemporary music record label, was started by jazz pianist Steve Plews 21 years ago. Tonight, the specialist contemporary classical wing of the label Prima Facie invite you to pop in for a couple of Christmas drinks to celebrate their successful collaboration over the last year with the Royal Northern College of Music.

Prima Facie logoThree new projects crossing three generations will be launched:

Anthony Gilbert, former professor of composition at the RNCM: Travelling with Time (listen below)

Adam Gorb, current professor of composition at the RNCM: Dancing in the Ghetto (listen below)

Larry Goves, lecturer in composition at the RNCM: The Rules featuring the National Youth Orchestra

There will be live music including a short 20 minute set of contemporary music for piano and cello. Steve Plews will be joined by Gavin Russel on bass to provide some background contemporary jazz at the beginning of the evening (see video below). For those wanting a souvenir of the evening, CDs will be on sale.
