Talks: Redeye – Fail early fail often

In our experience, everyone is going about their business, talking about the success stories of their career to apply for new work. And so they should.

But isn’t it freeing to hear about the things that haven’t quite gone to plan?
Isn’t it encouraging to know most people have experienced projects that go totally wrong?

Yes!

This is a session by the Redeye Photography Network to learn from each other’s different situations, and perhaps prevent future issues for yourself.

Three speakers will present short talks on their biggest photography failure, what they did, and how they recovered from it. The room will then be opened up for anyone to get up and share their biggest photography failure in an almost group therapy format.

About the Speakers

Sian Bonnell is a UK-based artist, curator and publisher living and working in West Yorkshire, and is currently Reader in Photography at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Drew Forsyth is a commercial, dance and portrait photographer with clients that include UN Women, The Co-op Bank, Scottish Ballet, John Lewis, The University of Manchester, Science Museum Group, J W Lees and Central School of Ballet.

Liz Wewiora is a photographic artist and curator, specialising in socially engaged practice. She is also the Head of Engagement for Open Eye Gallery in Liverpool where alongside her own practice, she seeks to instigate and produce collaborative photography projects that support and promote social change.

Who is it for?

This is for photographers and visual creators at any level, including students, enthusiasts, and professionals.

This event is on Tuesday 7 May and runs from 7pm to 9pm, doors open at 6.30pm. This event is free to attend, but booking is essential; please register here.
