The University of Manchester Drama Society presents ‘Alpha’, written by Zoe Kent.
Three couples. The future. The task: to procreate and create a strong and hardworking generation Alpha. Every life under the scheme is valued. Supposedly. The couples live and work within the walls of the Barrack’s and under the watchful eye of its Guard. Under the Government’s ‘apple scheme’, the couples witness their children being sent off to school hundreds of miles away, bringing new challenges and pressures on the marriages. When a baby is left to die by the very state that promised to nurture it, the couples are effected in a way they couldn’t possibly have predicted. Rebellion is in the air.
This performance contains strong themes of suicide, war and domestic abuse.
