Scored in Silence

The atomic bombs that fell on Hiroshima and Nagasaki changed the world and Japanese deaf artist Chisato Minamimura wants to share how they changed people. Prepare to be mesmerised as Chisato’s performance triggers visuals, sound and vibration, blending sign language with vibrotactility, relaying the stories of the remaining deaf ‘hibakusha,’ survivors, scored in silence.

This event is part of Manchester Science Festival. There are three performances to select, each with a Q&A afterwards.

Scored in Silence
Friday 19 October 2018,
2pm – 2.45pm and 8pm – 8.45pm
Followed by A Closer Look

Saturday 20 October 2018,
8pm – 8.45pm
Followed by A Closer Look

Scored in Silence: A Closer Look
Friday 19 October 2018, 3pm – 3.30pm and 9pm – 9.30pm
Saturday 20 October 2018, 9pm – 9.30pm
Ticket holders are invited to a D/deaf-friendly Q&A session with the artist gaining even more of an insight into history and experiences of deaf people in nuclear fallout and its relevance for all of us today. This Q&A is free to ticket holders, no need to book.
