Grimmfest film screening: Samurai SplatterFriday, February 17th, 2012, 7:30 pm | Tickets £6.50, on the door. 18+.

Grimmfest presents another double bill of cult films. Shogun Assassin (1980) is arguably the most popular samurai film in the West since the days of Akira Kurosawa. This chanbara classic was lifted from a hugely popular comic book saga and, 'still wet, transferred glistening to the screen'. Followed by Baby Cart To Hades (1970), a classic example of Japanese exploitation cinema, whose musings on the meaning of honour in a lawless world still resonate today. Strictly 18+. More details and booking here.

Performance: Seaming ToThursday, February 23rd, 2012, 8:00 pm | £7/£5. Bar open from 6pm.

Songs for My Grandmother is an ambitious new work by vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Seaming To. For the premiere of this project, Seaming will be joined by her mother, the classical pianist Enloc Wu, and together they will perform songs using vintage electronics, clarinet, an 18th century celeste and analogue synths.  More information and tickets from Chinese Arts Centre
