About the Foundation:
The International Anthony Burgess Foundation encourages and supports public and scholarly interest in all aspects of the life and work of Anthony Burgess. Based in Manchester, England, we have an extensive library, archive and study centre containing Burgess’s books, music and papers. We also have a performance venue where we present new work by writers, artists and musicians.
Established in 2003 by Liana Burgess (1929-2007), the Anthony Burgess Foundation is an independent educational charity which welcomes all individuals and institutions interested in Burgess’s work.
The Estate of Anthony Burgess is represented by David Higham Associates. Reopening: The Burgess Foundation is reopening. Our archive and reading room will be open for prebooked research visits from Tuesday 8 September (open Tues-Fri 10am-3pm), and our cafe will be open as a takeaway service from Tuesday 15 September (open Tues-Fri 10am-2pm). We are also now taking bookings for events in the autumn. We look forward to seeing you in our wonderful, safely distanced venue.
