Donate to the Burgess Foundation
It has never been easier to support the Burgess Foundation (jump to the donation form).
The International Anthony Burgess Foundation is an independent charity which supports educational and artistic work. We are a small team based in Manchester, England, the city where Anthony Burgess was born and educated.
Our mission is to encourage public and scholarly engagement with all aspects of the life and work of Anthony Burgess, and to preserve and promote the Burgess archive.
The Foundation presents exhibitions, provides a platform for new writing and music, enables academic research and creative expression, and works with others to present a year-round programme of public events in-venue and online.
Your donations have already helped us to:
- Award travel grants for those researching the life and work of Anthony Burgess: see more about the grants here.
- Commission new work from No Dice Collective (flautist pictured), bringing archive objects to new audiences in partnership with the Writing Squad.
- Fund a programme of book restoration: see photographs here and this delightful Faber poetry book. There are 8,000 more books in the collection!
- Present an annual Anthony Burgess Lecture, with previous speakers including Dame Margaret Drabble and Jonathan Meades. You can hear listen to past lectures here.
By donating to the Anthony Burgess Foundation, you will be helping to preserve our large collection of manuscripts and printed books, which provides an unparalleled insight into twentieth-century culture, viewed from the perspective of a major world author.
Every donation helps to support our work with the worldwide network of Burgess readers, scholars and fans.
