distant parochial laughter… / …where be to? Me birds, LUSKHEROW TARAN, be not in Kernow any further is’em?!

Tired of seeing ‘content’ instead of ‘music’?

Long for ‘conversation’ over ‘engagement’?

Idea of ‘building a following’ fill you with dread?

I am. I do. It does…

Hi! I’m Jacob ‘oncebard’ Griffiths, one of the founding members of Luskherow Taran, a creative collective conceived in 2025.

I’ve graduated from some places (Wells Cathedral School, University of Manchester) and I’ve dropped out of others (Guildhall).

I’ve since learnt that I’m best off as a composer/arranger — I’ve worked most recently as an arranger for David Mackay: producer on songs by artists such as Cliff Richard, Bonnie Tyler, Dusty, The New Seekers. David liked my work and referred Manfred Mann’s Michael d’Abo to me for music transcription.

The other people performing today in the collective have done and are doing some significant things too; they will have to tell you all about those in their own good time…

If you don’t like what we’re doing on the stage (musically or otherwise), constructive comments are welcome.

If you are to heckle, please ensure you annunciate and project your voice. There be people at the back who want to hear your say.

There is a poll so you can choose where the show goes (or not). There is a sort of structure so you can be reassured of direction and endings. There isn’t a map provided. There isn’t a phone provided. There probably is a WiFi network and data signal — it is an hour long after all so you may get fidgety.

Tom from Devizes said of the collective’s debut EP— “sort of feels like outsider-art in a way. Slightly overwhelming, like looking at a clown, like feeling like a clown. […]it’s really bewildering[,] like being punched in the face by a post-modernist.”

Malcolm from Shepperton said of the collective’s debut EP— “I like this.”

There’s something in that I expect.
