Brass Up-close aims to showcase brass band instruments in a new light, highlighting their potential through small group performances of modern music.

The programme will feature:

Inslide Out

An award winning trombone quartet formed in Manchester. Their unique approach to music-making sees them take influence from brass band traditions, choral music, and contemporary works to engage listeners with music that is both innovative and enjoyable.

The RNCM Tenor Horn Quartet

This unusual ensemble is officially four years old, but cycles through players annually as students graduate. These particular four tenor horn players come from a good heritage of modern brass banding and are always ready to explore frontiers both new and old for brass playing.

Accent Brass

A brass band quartet that unites each member’s varied personal backgrounds, resulting in a wide range of engagements, styles and genres. With the experience of the highest level of brass banding, the quartet enjoy playing traditional brass band music and brand-new arrangements/compositions.

It will also feature the premiere of a brand new solo for tenor horn and electronics by composer Lucy Green.

Together, the performers offer a clear and engaging exploration of the brass band.

Doors 7pm | The concert will last 90 minutes
