Enter the rich cultural history of ‘money first’ Hong Kong through the fascinating life of Harry Odell, a former stockbroker who reinvented himself as a larger-than-life impresario who brought world-class musicians like Isaac Stern and Xavier Cugat to perform in the city.

The documentary grew out of a grassroots campaign to save a historic theatre, which happened to be the legendary stage that launched Odell’s second life. In tracing his lost footsteps through a mindblowing detective process, directors Dora Choi and Haider Kikabhoy unearthed Odell’s profound contribution to the arts, while showcasing the cosmopolitan and adventurous spirit of post-war Hong Kong, when the city was falling in love with itself for the first time.

To Be Continued premiered in the 47th Hong Kong International Film Festival in 2023. It was also voted one of the year’s top films by the Hong Kong Film Critics Society. (Languages: Cantonese and English)

Sea Island & Ferry, a Hong Kong ensemble whose members created the soundtrack of this film, partnered with To Be Continued to organize a series of screenings of this documentary in the UK. Part of the proceeds will support the ensemble’s UK performances this coming summer.
