Talk: Architect VS Engineer — Who Knows Best?

The Manchester School of Architecture Debating Union holds its first debate of 2019/20 academic year.

In the architecture world, the paths of architects and engineers are always intersecting: without this collaboration, many buildings would be impossible to realise. However, architects and engineers are known to have a conflicting relationship, often fighting over the ‘who knows best’? For two professions that have to work so closely together this seems rather ironic. But why? What are the values that each profession brings to the building outcome? Is there a lack of overlapping and  common knowledge in education? Or is it that one profession actually knows more and needs to be in charge?

This long awaited debate between architects and engineers will break down these and many more questions, discussing the ever lasting stereotypes of the built environment industry. Everyone is welcome to attend. [speakers to be announced]
