Have you done your Christmas shopping yet?

Did you wrap it all up in one fevered night on Amazon, with a glass of mulled wine and an over-worked credit card?

The days of jostling on over-crowded high street pavements are gone…or are they?

Join David Rudlin and Lucy Montague to talk about their book “High Street: How our town centres can bounce back from the retail crisis” with Phil Griffin, at Anthony Burgess Foundation, 3 Cambridge Street Manchester M1 5BY Thursday 7 December 2023 6-8.30pm

David Rudlin is a planner who founded URBED, a highly influential urban design practice based in Manchester. He is past Chair of the Academy of Urbanism, and a Visiting Professor at Manchester School of Architecture. He is Director of Urban Design at BDP and writes a monthly column for Building Design magazine. Dr Lucy Montague is Senior Lecturer and Programme Director of the MA Architecture & Urbanism at Manchester School of Architecture.

Phil Griffin says: “David and Lucy question the role and nature of High Streets in forthcoming decades. Their profiles as thinkers, and doers in our changing towns and cities have few equals. David’s role in Manchester from Homes for Change and the rebuilding of Hulme to his frequent and always thoughtful contributions to urban debate make him a Manchester hero.”
