  • The Piano Music of Anthony Burgess

We are delighted to announce the launch of a new recording of Anthony Burgess’s piano music.

Performed by Richard Casey and produced by Steve Plews for the Prima Facie label, the album contains a range of the music by the novelist Anthony Burgess during his long parallel career as a prolific composer. Much of it has never been heard before, and none has previously been available on record.

On Thursday 10th December at 7pm, we present an intimate live performance by pianist Richard Casey, who will perform pieces from the album on Burgess’ own grand piano at the International Anthony Burgess Foundation. Tickets for the concert are on sale now, priced just £5. There will be a complimentary mulled wine reception on arrival.

Buy tickets.

Richard Casey is a founding member of the Manchester-based contemporary music ensemble Psappha, and since 1991 he has performed over 200 works with the group internationally. He has recently worked with the Richard Alston Dance Company in Stravinsky’s Three Movements from Petrushka, and has been invited by Pierre Boulez to join the Ensemble Intercontemporain in a performance of his Sur Incises at Carnegie Hall, New York City. Steve Plews is a prolific producer and recently recorded the award winning double CD, The Complete Piano Works of Peter Maxwell Davies. He runs the studio and label ASC Records, which exists to promote artists in contemporary classical and jazz, and Prima Facie Records, which specialises in premiere recordings by British composers.

Pre-order now and have your name in the sleeve
The album will be released as a limited edition CD digipak and digital download, and we are offering friends and supporters the chance to purchase an advance copy of the CD ahead of the performance.

Pre-order the album now at the discounted price of just £10, and we will print your name in the sleeve of the CD booklet as a special thank you for your support.
