This is the entry page for the Observer / Burgess Prize for Arts Journalism.

The winning entry will be an 800-word review of a recently released book, film, concert, exhibition, ballet, play, TV show or performance art piece. The word count includes titles and ‘recently released’ means a new work from within twelve months of the competition deadline.

The closing date is 5pm on 30 November 2018. The shortlist will be announced in January 2019. The winner will be announced in February 2019 at a ceremony at Kings Place, London. Please note that due to the volume of entries, unsuccessful entrants will not be notified, but each submission will receive full consideration.

To send a postal entry, send a cheque for £10 payable to the International Anthony Burgess Foundation along with your entry (paper copies only) to: Anthony Burgess Prize for Arts Journalism, International Anthony Burgess Foundation, Engine House, 3 Cambridge Street, Manchester, M1 5BY.
