Electronic musician Scanner heads up an evening of special musical performances inspired by the rarely-heard cassette archive of the author Anthony Burgess.

This event previews a forthcoming double-LP of rare archival material and exclusive remixes, curated by artist Alan Dunn in collaboration with Guy-Marc Hinant. The event features The Reverend Max Ripple, Foreign Investment, David Birchall and Vicky Clarke, who will present interpretations of their album tracks, followed by a new piece from Scanner.

His work — ‘This Sound is Not for Listening’ — offers a form of time-travel through sound, reaching back into the past, re-constructing a momentary past in our digital present, a chance to let the ghosts of the past bring new new life to listeners.

Sub Rosa is a Brussels-based record label specialising in avant-garde music: their catalogue comprises over 250 works of drone, noise, concrete, ritual and film music.

This performance takes place at the International Anthony Burgess Foundation, home to the Burgess estate, whose collections include the archive of cassettes which has inspired tonight’s performances.
