Thanks to a generous grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, Anna Edwards has recently joined the Burgess Foundation as our Archivist.

Anna brings a wealth of experience from her previous role as Assistant Archivist at the British Province of the Society of Jesus. Anna says: ‘I’m thrilled to have started work at the Burgess Foundation on this exciting new project. My work will focus on the development of a comprehensive catalogue of the collection and long-term strategies for its digitisation and conservation. Alongside this I’ll be involved in a new programme of events and activities, which will promote awareness of the collection and of Anthony Burgess’s life and work, and which will draw on the richness and variety of the library and archive.’

The first of these events is a series of free tours, ‘Unlocking the Anthony Burgess Archive’, the first of which is at 6pm on 9 April: details are here, and places can be booked on events@anthonyburgess.org or 0161 235 0776. More activities will be announced soon, and we’ll update the website regularly with news of our progress on the project and discoveries that we make.

The Reading Room is open to all, Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm, by appointment only. More detail about our collections and information about how to arrange a research visit is here.
