As International Women’s Day approaches, join us to ‘Break the Bias’ at the Anthony Burgess Foundation on March 7th from 6-10pm.

This free, informal, drop-in event features a series of short musical performances, from string quartet to saxophone and harp duo, showcasing of some the finest music written by female composers, alongside premieres of new works from the Royal Northern College of Music.

At 8pm there will be a panel discussion with five distinguished women who are already Breaking the Bias within the music industry: Dr Michelle Phillips (music psychologist & Deputy Head of Undergraduate Studies at the RNCM), Abi Kitching (conductor & singer), Rachel Graham (Project Director, TiPP), Kathryn Williams (flautist & researcher) and Angela Slater (composer).

Join us for an inspiring evening, and strive to Empower and create the change we want to see within the industry.

Refreshments are available throughout the evening, and donations to support the charity DONNE would be very welcome.

DONNE is a charitable foundation that makes positive change in the fight against gender inequality within the music industry. Their main goal is to celebrate, advance, and amplify women in music so that they are seen, heard, and appreciated for their talent so they can leave a legacy of inspiration for future generations.

This event has been supported with a grant from Manchester City Council and the RNCM.
