Inside Anthony Burgess is a podcast which aims to explore the imaginative world of the author of A Clockwork Orange and 32 other novels.
Each episode will feature one of Burgess’s books, taking in both his fiction and his non-fiction. Among other subjects, we will discuss the origins of each work, its themes and its literary techniques.
In this episode, Andrew Biswell and Graham Foster look at Little Wilson and Big God, the first part of ‘The Confessions of Anthony Burgess’. Burgess recollects the first 42 years of his life, from 1917 to 1959, including his early life in Manchester, his experiences during the Second World War, and his time as a teacher in Bamber Bridge, Wolverhampton, Oxfordshire, Malaya and Brunei.
