The Music of Anthony Burgess

The Music of Anthony Burgess

Welcome to our exhibition about the music of Anthony Burgess.

Anthony Burgess is best known for his novels, but he was also a talented and prolific composer who wrote music in many genres and styles: symphonies, concertos, musicals, chamber music, film soundtracks, songs and much more. This exhibition takes seven of his most important works as a starting point to explore his fascinating musical career.

Pick a piece below to begin.

Much more about Anthony Burgess’s music can be found on our dedicated resource pages. Click here to be taken to a selection of music scores, available for anyone to play; or find out about Burgess’s musical autobiography This Man and Music, republished in a new edition this year.
