Exhibitions. New writing. Concert commissions. Academic research. Public events, in venues and online. And at the core of everything, preserving and promoting our extensive Anthony Burgess archive.
Your donation to the Burgess Foundation supports our mission to promote the life and work of Anthony Burgess in so many ways.
Burgess wrote or adapted a number of works for the theatre, and often characteristically included musical elements. As well as his A Clockwork Orange: A Play with Music, Burgess created a new musical based on Cyrano de Bergerac which ran on Broadway in 1973 and a musical version of James Joyce’s Ulysses, which has so far never been staged. Here are some of the songs from the shows.
